Richard Steinberg
Research Fellow
Richard Steinberg writes and teaches in the areas of international law and international relations. He currently teaches International Trade Law, International Business Transactions, and Theories of International Law, and directs Law School clinics that work with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and conduct research in conflict and post-conflict zones. He is also Director of the Sanela Diana Jenkins Human Rights Project, and Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning www.ICCforum.com (link is external).
In addition to his UCLA appointment, Professor Steinberg is currently Visiting Professor of Stanford Global Studies and the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at Stanford. Professor Steinberg is on the Board of Editors of the American Journal of International Law and served on the Editorial Board of International Organization from 2003-2012. He is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has taught law courses at Stanford Law School, the University of California Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law, Sciences Po (Institut d’Etudes Politiques) in France, the University of Coimbra in Portugal, La Trobe University in Australia, and elsewhere. Professor Steinberg has written over forty articles on international law. Prior to arriving at UCLA, Professor Steinberg worked as Assistant General Counsel to the United States Trade Representative in Washington, D.C., and later as an associatewith Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco. He also served as Project Director at the Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy (BRIE) at UC Berkeley.
