Declaring the Minor in Human Rights

Students must complete these four steps to formally declare a minor in Human Rights:

  1. Register your interest in the Minor by completing this simple form. This will ensure you receive all relevant communications.

  2. Download and complete the Minor in Human Rights course planning worksheet.

  3. Email the completed form to Student Services Specialist denisefz [at] stanford.edu (subject: Declaring%20the%20Minor%20in%20Human%20Rights) (Denise Fernández) and schedule a time to review your preliminary course plan, preferably during office hours.

  4. Once your plan is approved, you may declare Human Rights as your minor in Axess.
The [HUMRTS 101] intro class hooked me, and the minor is one of my favorite things I've done at Stanford! Being a human rights minor helped me start to look at problems in the world at the system level. Instead of reading a news article and feeling emotion based on the event being reported on, the minor taught me to take a step back and examine the situation holistically and understand the biases and perspectives being elevated in the narrative beyond the surface level.
