Kofi Annan Discusses Divisions, Diplomacy, Technology at Stanford

The Handa Center was honored to join the Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) to co-sponsor Kofi Annan, in Conversation with Francis Fukuyama, on May 1.

The Stanford Daily captured the event in the article, Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan talks illiberal democracies, election issues. 

Kofi Annan offered the following  advice to Stanford students: “When you see something wrong, don’t be a bystander. You are never too young to lead. Don’t let my generation tell you, ‘Shut up and wait your turn.’ Work across racial, religious and other lines. Don’t accept divisions you see in society.”
