The War on the Right to Seek Asylum at the Southern Border

Casey Miller will discuss the tactics the Trump administration has deployed to prevent Central Americans from their legal right to seek asylum. Miller is an organizer and immigrant rights advocate based in San Antonio, Texas. She works transnationally in Mexico and the United States, fighting for the legal rights of asylum seekers from all over the world. Most recently she has organized pro se workshops and court observation programs for people who have been returned to Mexico under "Remain in Mexico"/Migrant Protection Protocols, in Tijuana and San Antonio. She also worked as a legal assistant for RAICES in Karnes Family Detention Center while the "zero tolerance policy" was in effect last year. Her passion for justice doesn't only show up in her work with migrants but also in her past work as a dietitian and food justice organizer.
